Two Oceans Tour 2024 - Thursday 10 October to Sunday 20 October

UPDATE #3

Detailed planning is continuing for this year’s Tour with dates and overnight stay locations decided and recommended accommodation blocked out.

It MUST BE NOTED that a lot of the accommodation in the south-west has already been booked out by bus companies for this year’s wild flower season and that hotels, motels and resorts will not hold block bookings for extended periods of time. Several motels would not hold accommodation for extended periods of time.

Since we first asked for expressions of interest in attending this year’s tour a number of interested parties from the east coast and from overseas have made arrangement to fly to Perth and rent or borrow a car and travelling down to Esperance with local participants on Thursday 10th October.

At the same time, several groups from the east coast have indicated that they will be convoying across to Western Australia and plan to converge in Esperance on Friday 11th October.

For those who will be gathering in Esperance, a welcome dinner for all participants will be held in Esperance on the Saturday night. This will necessitate those leaving from Perth also arriving in Esperance in time for that dinner.

The schedule is as follows:

Thursday 10th October – leave Perth and overnight in Hyden with the possibility of getting a viewing of the incredible natural geology at Wave Rock.

Friday 11th October –after breakfast, leave Hyden for Esperance with with an opportunity for a coffee stop before lunch in Ravensthorpe mid-transit.

Saturday 12th October – A full day in Esperance with time to see places of interest in and around Esperance with a welcome dinner that night for all participants.

Sunday 13th October – Leave Esperance for Bremer Bay picking up points of interest along the way.

Monday 14th October – Leave Bremer Bay for Albany via the Stirling Range National Park and Porongurup Ranges and an opportunity to visit one of the many Great Southern wineries. A pre-paid dinner has been arranged in Albany for that evening.

Tuesday 15th October – Free time and organised sites to see in Albany.

Wednesday 16th October – Leave Albany for Bridgetown with an opportunity to experience the Tree Top Walk in the Valley of the Giants, a morning coffee along the way and lunch at one of the several small south-west towns that we will pass through. Continuing on along some of the finest driving roads through the forest landscape we arrive in Bridgetown where a pre-paid dinner has been arranged for that evening.

Thursday 17thth October – Today we drive to Margaret River on some great driving roads through the south-west forest. A pre-paid light lunch at Hamelin Bay Winery and an opportunity to taste and purchase some of their notable wines can be had before we continue onto our Margaret River accommodation. For those who so wish, a short diversion can be had this afternoon to venture down to Augusta to see the Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse where the Indian and Southern Oceans meet. A pre-paid dinner has been arranged at a restaurant within easy walking distance of our accommodation.

Friday 18th October – On our last day of the tour we head back to Perth through some of WA’s best driving country, with an opportunity to have morning tea and site-see around a local forest town before continuing on to a pre-paid lunch stop along the way.

Saturday 19th October – free day, possibly in Fremantle. Guests from the East coast might consider spending their final days after the tour in Fremantle – say at the Esplanade Hotel?

Sunday 20th October – PASTA RUN may be run on this day. The Fiat Lancia Club of WA will be joining other Italian car clubs on this annual event and would be pleased if guests from the Two Oceans Tour could join with them in this event. After a short morning scenic run, participants meet at a designated restaurant for a participant funded pasta lunch.

An informal BBQ type event is proposed for the Sunday night to farewell visitors before their departure for home.

As with previous Two Oceans Tours, it is proposed that the Entry Fee will allow for several dinners and at least two lunches during the tour.

The journey from Perth to Esperance, for those travelling in that convoy, will be PAYG. Accommodation has been blocked out in Hyden and needs to be booked along with your accommodation at our other tour stops.

SUGGESTED ACCOMODATION

NOTE: The following accommodation has rooms blocked out under the name FIAT LANCIA CAR CLUB.

Blocked out accommodation will only be held until June 30th in a number of these locations. You must book on or before that date to secure a blocked out room – unless they are booked out before by those who are happier to book sooner than later!

It is recommended to make your booking by telephone so that they are aware that your room is coming out of those being held for the Fiat Lancia Club.

When you make your booking could you please let Rob Rowbottam (pininfarina@fiatlancia.org.au ) know so that he can keep a track of numbers?
